A few weeks ago, we were able to integrate coComment on sevenload. Due to technical reasons, we have decided to adjust coComments integration for sevenload users.

Effective immediately, coComment will be deactivated for sevenload users as a standard- this does not mean however, that the service will no longer be available on sevenload. On the contrary, whoever wants to actively use coComment on sevenload simply has to go to the “My sevenload” section of their account and activate coComment (which is found under Communications Options)- or of course, de-activate it again. Any other future changes that are made to coComment’s accessability on sevenload will be discussed here on the Blog. We already gave a brief introduction/explanation of coComment in this Blog entry.

A lot of feedback came back to us from the Community about how we could better implement it and explain it to users- and our development team came up with a way to do searches under the parameters of certain CC licenses.

In addition, we’re planning on adding a feature that will let you add a CC License at the onset of uploading photos and videos. This hopefully will make it easier for you to share/protect your works on sevenload!

If you haven’t heard about Creative Commons yet, this will be your chance to find out more about it!

We’ve been receiving a lot of feedback since the changes we made to the point system on sevenload, and the fact is that because ratings for photos and videos are not visibly honoured on the profiles yet we are going to make these additional calculations/adjustments:

1. Ratings
Photo and video rating will now be incorporated into the end points. For every 10 stars and additional 2 points will be added. Example: your photo has been rated with 8 stars 3 times = 24 stars. Thus, you will get an additional 4.8 points!

2. Comments
In addition to the points given for the commentator who uploaded the commented photo or video will also get an extra point added.

In addition, a small addition error was able to creep into the points displayed on various profiles. Our developers are currently working on getting numbers, info and facts straightened out!
Please excuse this minor irritation.

How often have you asked yourself a simple question like this one while on another user’s profile: How can I write this user a message?

Well, to help you out, we redesigned the profile status on sevenload.

Online Status: One of the first things that you’ll notice on a profile right away now is whether or not the user is online and logged-in to sevenload.

Profile Contents: There are now five central tags which are visible in the upper-hand part of a user’s profile “Infos”, “About me”, “Interests”, “Equipment” and “Contact” – now you don’t have to bother scrolling through a profile to find this information.

User Status: We’ve made the “Ignore User” function even easier to find- it’s in the upper part of a user’s profile. Once you’ve decided to ignore a user, if you go to their profile you’ll find a “Don’t Ignore” button, just in case you change your mind.

Write Message: Every user can now also receive a message which is sent over our internal message system.

Add Note Function: Just in case you’d like to add some sort of note about a particular user you can with this feature- the feature can be found under the “Write Message” in the top corner of a user’s profile page.

Up to now, users with the most points received for their photos/videos were the ones who showed up as being most popular. But this meant that many of our users who are very active in the Community were not being recognized for their activity. That’s why we’ve decided to add user activity as one of our subsections on sevenload.

The new point distribution is therefore no longer affected by ratings, but rather activities such as the user’s tagging and uploading. The following list should give you a better idea of what we mean:

Uploading a photo is worth one point. And for those who upload a profile photo right away will obviously immediately profit from it.

However, each uploaded video is worth four points.

In addition, five points are giving for creating an album, writing a comment or leaving a guestbook entry. If you already have a lot of friends in the Community and actively interact with them, you’ll be rewarded for it right away!

Furthermore, one point will be given for every single rating made by the user themselves.

And for those users who are really busy bees- they’ll each receive a half point for every tag they make for photos and videos.

Whoever adds a profile photo will receive a one time only addition of 100 extra points! *the first time they add a profile photo.

We’re sure that you’ll enjoy this new point system- during our internal testing we discovered that we ourselves we getting addicted to be more active and start getting points.

Example for the new point system

Composition of the new points

Of course, we are not going to delete the old and new photo and video ratings they will just not be incorporated in the user’s profile page.

Update: We are already working on a way to reward the most active participation on sevenload with a prize. Further information will be available soon.
