New RSS Feeds
This topic might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but we felt it was necessary to bring up in the context of enhancing our support of Web 2.0 features- that’s why we decided to integrate this new feature onto sevenload:
As a response to requests from several sevenloaders, we’ve decided to “pimp” the RSS Feeds on sevenload.
Under the section “My sevenload” you’ll find a large selection of general and also personalized RSS Feeds that can provide you with the information you want to have. The adjacent screenshot with its numerous options speaks for itself.
Don’t forget that the RSS Feeds always refer to the current page on sevenload: on a photo page for example only the RSS Feed for the comments of each of the respective photos will be displayed in the central option menu for the RSS Feeds.
Our developers and designers have also incorporated a graphic with the famous RSS icon for every functional box in the lower corner, so that when required the information from the box can also be conveniently viewed in the feed reader– as shown in the screenshot below.
Alongside the RSS Feed we have also integrated an RSS Feed corresponding to the new episodes of the specials on every sevenload channel, e.g. sevenload TV. This makes it possible to compile exactly what you personally want to see on sevenload from the large selection of feeds in combination with the new RSS Feeds.
We would be delighted to include your ideas and wishes in our to-do list– send us an E-mail or make a comment here in the Blog. We will be starting to work hard on developing the features as soon as time allows! 
Update: the individual RSS feeds for the Channels will possibly be adjusted afterwards. However, this should pose minimal problems for the users. We’ll keep you updated!
Insanity- Sweden’s Superstar on sevenload
The 19 year old Swedish singer/songwriter Darin is a truly exceptional artist- in fact, back in Sweden he is compared to famous artists such as Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake. His popmusic has its own personal style and cool beats, hot arrangements and exciting melodies.
With his first single release, “Insanity“, which came out on June 29th, Darin came running up against other club hits. The song “Insanity” tells the story of forbidden love, that leads to insanity- and maybe, just maybe it’s also telling the sotry about how beloved Sweden’s newest star is! Darin can be found on sevenload’s Music Channel (on channel 2), check him out!
Make Way for More Photographers!
Two new photographers are going to be bestowed with their own, individual Specials today! And we’re really pleased to be offering the sevenload Community their fantastic photos on sevenload’s Channel 12.
The first Special of the two is from a very experimental hobby photographer, AndrèX. His enthusiasm and love of detail are clear in all of his photos- which he shoots with his EOS 300D.
And: we’ve got one more for you- Kronic2000 (who shoots with a EOS 400D), who isn’t specialized in just one area of photography, but rather prefers to try everything out. His photos come from an image or idea that he already has in mind, which he then goes out and shoots. This is how he finds subjects for all kinds of viewers- sometimes offering them photos from new perspectives.
Both of these photographers can only be found on sevenload. But, we’re already looking for other/new photographers who are ready to show the world what they’ve got. If you think that you’ve got what it takes, and want to have your own Special on sevenload, then get in touch with our Specials Team. Simply send us a mail- and if you’re able to impress not only us, but the Community as well, then you too could have your own sevenload Special!
Trackbacks on the sevenload Blog
They’re baaaack!: Pingbacks and trackbacks are finally working for the sevneload Blog. In the past, some bloggers have diligently pinged the sevenload Blog or used the trackback URL function on Wordpress- but unfortunately, nothing ever ended up here in our Blog. The reason why was quickly discovered, it was a small error in the spam filter configuration that had blocked any HTML that was part of a trackack. Luckily, this error only cropped-up for a couple of days. In any case though, we’d like to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Now- get our there and have fun pinging and trackbacking (or tracking back?)!
About the Search Function…
sevenload’s search function is a vital feature that sevenloaders need in order to have a good overview of the surplus of photots/videos on sevenload. It’s already possible to combine more than one word/term with another. In order to really filter out the best search results it’s often necessary to use not just one search term, but rather a combination of at least two.
I’m going to use an example from the Web 2.0 scene, BarCamp Hamburg, as a means of demonstrating the various possibilites for searches which can be done on sevenload- and what sort of results they return:
- A search for “barcamp” only, produces an immense amount of results in which the word barcamp is used as a tag for the photos and videos. Sorting the results by date is a helpful way to see what the newest uploaded photos/videos are.
- If you’re looking for a particular BarCamp, such as the BarCamp Frankfurt or Hamburg, would usually enter “barcamp frankfurt”. The results for such a search is a mix of the tags “barcamp” and “frankfurt”- however, a real mix of the two words will not be generated.
- A search for “+barcamp +hamburg” reduces the results to a minimum number of photos and videos which are linked to both tags.
- Likewise, it’s possible to use an asterisk (”*” – the star) in order to receive so-called “wildcard” results for the search. For example, a search for “*camp*” will return results with photos/videos taged with things such as “barcamp”- basically words with the word camp included in them.
It’s possible that some of the functionality of our searches were not easily/well understood by some users. Therefore, we have decided to continue to work on optimizing sevenload’s search functions because it’s really important to us that sevenloader’s not only understand our features, but that they find them useful. Community feedback is therefore also very important to us (as it always has been) for us to better enhance the site.
New Community Features
sevenload has made a couple of enhancements which I’d like to discuss here- and in fact, the best way to understand these new features is to check them out yourself!
Automatic “Continue” Feature after Uploading
Normally, your uploaded photos and videos are first shown on sevenload only after you have clicked on “continue” in the upload section. In order to save yourself from this extra click, you simply have to check in the box that you’d like to automatically continue after uploading. The automatically continue box can be found right in the upload section on sevenload.
Points and Guestbook on “My sevenload”
Until now, you were only able to see your Guestbook and point information directly on your own profile, but thanks to our super developers, it’s now possible to see this on your “My sevenload” page. Thanks to our team for integrating this new feature, giving us just a bit more “usability” on our pages. 
New Blog Entries
It’s now possible to see what the newest sevenload Blog entries are on the “My sevenload” page (right at the top). Becuase you should always know what’s going on in the Blog, right?…
